Varina

The author of "Cold Mountain" and "Nightwoods" tells the story of the teenage Varina Howell's marriage to the much older Jefferson Davis, little knowing at the outset that Davis will become President of the Confederacy and lead a brutal Civil War - the loss of which will force her and her children to become fugitives.
